2. Examination Scheme & Selection Stages

Common for all posts: 100 questions (100 marks) in 90 minutes. General Awareness (40 Qs), Mathematics (30 Qs), and General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 Qs). 1/3 negative marking. Qualifying only; shortlists candidates for CBT 2 at 15 times the vacancy count.

Stage 2: Second Stage CBT (Level-Wise Merit Test)

Conducted separately for each 7th CPC Pay Level (Level 2, 3, 5, 6). 120 questions (120 marks) in 90 minutes: General Awareness (50 Qs), Mathematics (35 Qs), and Reasoning (35 Qs). 1/3 negative marking. This score forms the primary basis of final selection.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for Station Master candidates (70% CBT 2 score + 30% CBAT score). Computer Based Typing Skill Test (30 WPM English / 25 WPM Hindi) for clerical posts (qualifying only).

Stage 4: Document Verification & Medical Checkup

Verification of original credentials, followed by stringent medical evaluation at Railway Divisional Hospitals according to A-2, A-3, B-2, or C-2 standards.
