The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection enforces well-defined eligibility benchmarks for its clerical cadre examination. Because clerical personnel serve as direct customer liaisons across branches, candidates must meet educational, age, and regional language criteria.

Educational Qualifications & Graduation Norms

1. Mandatory Degree

  • Candidates must hold a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of India.
  • Any academic stream is acceptable: B.A., B.Com, B.Sc., B.Tech, BBA, BCA, etc.
  • No minimum percentage is required. Candidates with pass marks or third division are fully eligible.

2. Result Declaration Cut-Off

  • Unlike some exams that permit provisional applications, the candidate's final graduation results must have been formally declared on or before the registration closing date.
  • Candidates who are awaiting their final marksheet or result declaration on the deadline date are not eligible for that exam cycle.

Age Boundaries & Category-Wise Relaxations

Applicants must be between 20 and 28 years of age as of the official notification cut-off date:

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 28 Years

Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) Guidelines

Because IBPS Clerk vacancies are filled state-wise, proficiency in the regional language of the chosen state is an essential condition:

  1. Studied in School: Candidates who have studied the official regional language as a subject in 10th or 12th standard (verified by the school board marksheet) are completely exempt from the language test.
  2. Language Test: If the language was not studied in school, the candidate must pass an offline Local Language Test (LPT) conducted by the allotted bank before joining.
  3. Disqualification: Inability to read, write, and converse fluently in the regional language results in disqualification, regardless of high scores in the Main Examination.

Mandatory Computer Operations Certification

Clerical staff work extensively on Core Banking Solution (CBS) platforms like Finacle or BaNCS. Therefore:

  • Candidates must possess working knowledge of computer systems.
  • This requires having a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Computer Operations / Language, OR
  • Having studied Computer Science or Information Technology as a subject in High School, Intermediate, or College.

Credit Score & Financial Regularity

In line with banking industry standards:

  • Candidates should have a healthy credit reputation with a minimum CIBIL Score of 650 or higher.
  • First-time job seekers with no prior borrowing record (CIBIL showing "NA" or "-1") are fully eligible.
