State Bank of India specifies distinct eligibility standards for its Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) cadre. Because clerical roles are customer-facing and circle-specific, applicants must navigate both academic eligibility and state-specific language requirements.

Educational Qualifications & Degree Parameters

1. Mandatory Degree

  • Candidates must possess a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Degrees in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Law, or Medicine are all equally eligible.
  • There is no minimum percentage requirement; candidates who have simply passed their graduation are eligible to apply.

2. Final Year / Final Semester Candidates

  • Candidates who are in their final year or final semester of graduation may also apply provisionally.
  • Such candidates must produce documentary proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before the cut-off date specified in the official notification.

Age Limits & Category Relaxations

Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age as of the reference date specified in the notification:

  • Lower Age Limit: Minimum 20 completed years
  • Upper Age Limit: Maximum 28 years

Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) Rules

Because SBI Clerks deal directly with local customers, proficiency in the official regional language of the chosen state is mandatory:

  1. Documentary Exemption: If a candidate has studied the official local language in 10th standard or 12th standard as a subject and this is reflected in their board marksheet, they are exempt from the language test.
  2. Mandatory LPT Evaluation: Candidates without 10th/12th proof must undergo an offline Local Language Test before final joining. The test evaluates reading, writing, and conversational comprehension.
  3. Consequence of Failing LPT: Candidates who fail the Local Language Test are summarily disqualified, irrespective of high scores in the Main Examination.

Rules for Applying From Other States

Candidates are permitted to apply for vacancies in any state or union territory across India, subject to key conditions:

  • Single State Application: You can apply for vacancies in only one State / UT. Multiple applications across multiple circles lead to cancellation.
  • Exam Centre Flexibility: You can choose an exam centre in your home state while applying for vacancies in a different state.
  • Inter-Circle Transfer Restrictions: Junior Associates are not eligible for inter-circle transfers until completing 5 years of service, meaning you must be prepared to live and work in the applied state.

CIBIL Credit Score Norms

In common with all bank recruitments, applicants must maintain a sound credit reputation:

  • Candidates must maintain a minimum credit score of 650 or higher.
  • If a candidate has never availed a loan or credit card, their CIBIL score status appears as "-1" or "NA", which is fully acceptable.
