PwBD Eligibility and Reservation Rules
Crucial Note on PwBD Reserved Vacancies:
The official notification explicitly states that reserved vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for this cadre will be advertised separately under a special recruitment drive. Hence, no separate reserved vacancy count for PwBD is incorporated into this 131-vacancy figure.
However, eligible candidates possessing qualifying disabilities may apply against suitable vacancies. The Health & Family Welfare Department has identified the following disability types as suitable for the Staff Nurse post:

Educational Qualification and Eligibility Criteria
In accordance with recruitment notification NO.GY/18/HFWD/MSM/e-file/7/2024/3470/B(E) dated 17/06/2025, candidates must satisfy the following academic and technical qualifications as on the closing date:
Mandatory Nursing Qualifications (Either Option 1 OR Option 2):
B.Sc. (Nursing)
A degree of B.Sc. (Nursing) obtained from any University established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act in India, or deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, and recognized by the Gujarat Nursing Council or Indian Nursing Council.
Diploma in GNM
A Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) obtained from an educational institution recognized by the Gujarat Nursing Council or Indian Nursing Council.
Additional Statutory Eligibility Conditions:
1. Basic Computer Knowledge:
Candidates must possess basic computer application knowledge as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. This can be established via a certificate/marksheet from a recognized computer training institute, computer course as a subject in diploma/degree, or Class 10/12 passed with Computer subject.
*Important Relief: Candidates not possessing a computer certificate at the application stage are still eligible to apply; however, they must pass the requisite basic computer exam and present the certificate before formal appointment.
2. Language Proficiency:
Candidates must possess adequate working knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.
3. Gujarat Nursing Council Registration:
Selected candidates appointed through the competitive examination must register with the Gujarat Nursing Council under the Gujarat Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors' Act, 1968 at the time of appointment if not already registered.

Reservation Rules and Documentation
Reservation benefits and concessions are admissible only to candidates belonging to the original recognized reserved categories of Gujarat State:
SEBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Certificate
- Must be issued in the Gujarati format (Appendix-4) based on FY 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 income, issued between 01 April 2024 and 12 October 2026.

Additional 5% Marks for Widow Candidates
Eligible widow candidates are awarded an additional 5% of the marks obtained in the competitive examination towards final merit calculation, provided they have not remarried at the time of appointment and furnish authentic documentary proof.
Additional 5% Marks for Meritorious Sports Candidates
Candidates who have represented at recognized National / International, Inter-University, or All India School Games Federation competitions in approved sports disciplines receive an additional 5% marks in merit calculation, subject to valid prescribed certificates.

- 1. Fundamental of Nursing (20 Marks): Introduction to health and illness, Healthcare delivery systems, Infection control in clinical settings, Biomedical waste management, Hygiene, Nutritional needs, Diagnostic testing, Care of terminally ill patients, Psychosocial needs, First aid & emergencies.
- 2. Medical Surgical Nursing (20 Marks): Biochemical parameters, Nutrition assessment and education, Community health concepts, Applied microbiology and infection safety, Pharmacology, Antiseptics and disinfectants, Intraoperative care, Nursing care for respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, blood, endocrine, integumentary, musculoskeletal, and communicable disorders.
- 3. Midwifery and Pediatric Nursing (20 Marks): Introduction to midwifery, Maternal, fetal & newborn physiology, Normal pregnancy, Antenatal care, Intrapartum care, Assessment and care of normal neonates, High-risk pregnancy management, Postnatal complications, Family planning and welfare programmes.

Answer Key and Pro-Rata Scoring
Following the examination, GSSSB will release a provisional answer key. Candidates will be provided an opportunity to submit representations. After examining objections, the final answer key will be published. If any question is cancelled in the final key, marks for cancelled questions will be distributed on a pro-rata basis over the remaining valid questions in accordance with official evaluation rules.
